Oh my gosh you guys! You know how you get an idea in your head and then you spend heaps of time working on it and it turns out nothing like you had hoped it would. Well this is one of those rare times when a DIY idea has turned out even better than I imagined it would. Sometimes I shelf an idea simply because I think my imagination is better than my skill set.
The team over at Bosch DIY asked me if I’d be interested in working with one of their DIY tools. Never one to shy away from a challenge, I picked the tool that I knew the least about. In fact, it’s a DIY tool that I’d never even touched before – the router. But I’m never one to shy away from a creative challenge, so I planned to make a sweet wall plaque with a quirky quote scribed into it.
But once I actually started playing around with the my new Bosch DIY router I realised that my wall plaque was not what I wanted to craft. It didn’t feel like it had enough of a purpose to me. And boy I am so glad I made that decision.
When you know in your gut that something is not right, you often go with that feeling, right? So I abandoned ship on my crafty plan but scarily didn’t have another one. Until I was driving home after having coffee with a friend. And it just hit me. The idea, that is. I got so excited that I instinctively knew I was onto a good thing.
So I present to you, my DIY wall-mounted heart shelf. Complete with super-sweet rainbow pastel colours and gold glitter trim. You can make it whatever size you like because in my video tutorial I show you how to draw a heart shape template using two simple objects. So that means you can size it up as big as your heart desires (bad pun).
The heart shelf is perfect for showing off your prized trinkets and pretty collectables. Are you excited to make one? Make sure you pin it to your DIY board on Pinterest for later if you don’t plan on rushing off to the hardware store right this minute!

This post is proudly sponsored by Bosch DIY who supplied the router and asked to come up with a creative way to use it. Please note that I only ever choose to work with products and brands which I personally feel are relevant or interesting to the Unleash Creative community.
